HISTORY

Dutch folks have a final resting place (cemetery) in Ahmedabad dating to the 17th and 18th centuries. Some of the tombs are also believed to be Armenian. The architecture of these tombs - domes and pillars - shows a fine confluence of Dutch and Indian architectural styles. The tombs are located on a small hilltop near the circular Kankaria Talav (pond). Resting places or graves of small children, as well as adults, can be found.Dutch tombs or the Dutch Cemetery at One Tree Hill Garden by the side of Kankaria Lake give you a different prespective about the heritage of Ahmedabad.
